Your Appointment

Thank you for choosing us as your care provider.

On the day of your appointment, please arrive 10 minutes earlier to ensure we have enough time at reception to prepare all necessary paperwork and update your details.

We are mindful that your time is valuable and would like to avoid keeping you waiting.  However, occasionally a patient may present that requires a little extra time spent on them, which may cause unforeseeable scheduling delays beyond our control. Where possible, we will advise you if Dr Nisenblat is running late and we apologise in advance if you need to wait.

During your first appointment, a thorough medical and diagnostic work-up may be required.  If you have completed any tests, please bring these with you and notify reception staff on arrival.

Preparing for Your Appointment

  • Please ensure you have a valid referral from your GP or Specialist: GP referrals are valid for 12 months, and Specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.
  • Please bring with you any Medicare, Concession, Student or Pension cards, and Private Health Fund details to your appointment.
  • Please provide copies of any test results, including ultrasound scans, blood tests or reports about any previous surgeries or treatments that could be relevant to your visit. We encourage you to email these documents to us before your appointment.
  • Bring a list of all medications you are on (including vitamins, supplements, and herbal medicines).
  • Please consider bringing a list of any questions you may wish to ask so you don’t forget on the day.
  • If you are coming in for a fertility consultation, we encourage you to attend with your partner (where applicable), and in such a case, both you and your partner need to be listed on the referral as per Medicare requirements.
  • You are welcome to bring a support person to your appointment if you wish to do so.

Online Registration

Once you have secured an appointment time and date, you will be requested to complete our Online Patient Registration Form prior to your appointment so that you don’t have to complete it on the day.

If you prefer to complete your questionnaire on the day in person, then please arrive earlier to allow time for your paperwork to be completed.

If you bring any relevant health information with you on the day, please notify our reception staff on arrival so they can add this information to your medical file for Dr Nisenblat to review before your appointment.

Workers Compensation

If the condition relates to a Workers Compensation claim, please bring your claim number, insurer details, name and contact details of your case manager.

Telehealth

We offer Telehealth consultations via Skype, Microsoft Teams or Zoom.  If you have booked a Telehealth consult via our team, we will send you details of how to connect.  If you do not receive these, please call us.

Fees

  • We are a private clinic and charge private-practices fees. Full payment is required on the day of your appointment for a visit in person. We then send the claim to Medicare on your behalf and you will receive the Medicare rebate directly into your nominated bank account, usually within 2 working days.
  • We are a cash-free practice and accept payment by debit or credit card only. We apologise, but we do not accept Diners Club or American Express.
  • Full upfront payment in advance is required for all Telehealth consultations. You may wish to pay at the time of booking, or we will contact you a week before your appointment to arrange.
  • For couples attending fertility consultations, the principal patient is charged the full fee, and the partner is bulk billed (ie: the Medicare rebate amount).
  • Patients without Medicare will be billed per our standard rates and may be eligible for some rebate from their Overseas Health cover. Unfortunately, we are unable to make a claim on your behalf, but we will provide you with an invoice to enable you to lodge the claim yourself.
  • Private health insurance does not cover consultation costs unless you are an inpatient in the hospital.
  • Please call our rooms to clarify our fees relevant to your visit. Final fees may vary if other procedures are performed at your consultation.
  • For those considering having surgery with us, an estimate of operation fees will be provided to you upon request after you discuss the type and extent of surgery with Dr Nisenblat.
  • If you have Private Health insurance (full hospital cover), there is a gap payment in addition to the private insurance rebate, which varies according to the complexity of the surgery required. Those who do not have Private Health insurance may either elect to cover the costs of surgery from their own resources (self-funded) or be referred to a public hospital.

Cancellations

Please note that your appointment time is reserved solely for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, or if you have any further questions, please contact our rooms. Ensure you cancel your appointment no later than one business day before your scheduled visit. Otherwise, your next consultation needs to be paid in full in advance and this fee is non-refundable should you fail to attend the visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, generally not. We operate a full-service private clinic with leading local clinical staff and the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, to ensure patients receive a world-class clinical experience. This service is not possible to run on a bulk-billing model.  Therefore, there is a reasonable out-of-pocket expense associated with most consultations and procedures.

If you are a Medicare card holder and wish to claim the Medicare rebate, you will require a valid referral (addressed directly to Dr Nisenblat) from either a GP or another specialist to entitle you to claim your Medicare rebate.

Patients who do not have Medicare or those who do not wish to claim the Medicare rebate do not require a referral to attend our practice and will be billed per our standard rates.

No, you are not necessarily required to have Private Health Insurance. Private Health Insurance is only relevant when you undergo surgery in one of the private hospitals. If you opt to have a surgery with us as a ‘self-funded patient’, you will be asked to pay the full amount for your hospital stay and any surgical or anaesthetic fees. We are happy to provide you with any relevant fee estimates and to address any questions you may have.
